Connect OpenRouter

Chat in Personarium runs entirely on your own OpenRouter account — you pick the model, and you only ever pay for what you actually use.

Why OpenRouter

Personarium doesn't run a shared AI account of its own: chat requests go straight from your device to OpenRouter, with your key. That keeps you independent of us and keeps billing as transparent as it gets.

Connecting your account

The path is always the same:

Open the "OpenRouter" step in the first-run wizard — or later at any time via Settings → Connections.
Click "Connect with OpenRouter". Personarium opens your browser.
Sign in at OpenRouter (or create an account) and approve access.
Back in Personarium you'll see "✓ Connected" — no key to paste in by hand.

Where your key lives

The key lands directly in your operating system's keychain and never leaves your device. Personarium itself never sees it — no server sits between you and the model.

Keeping an eye on your balance

Personarium shows your current balance and warns you before it runs out mid-conversation. Top-ups happen directly at OpenRouter — for a rough monthly picture, use our cost calculator.

Disconnecting

You can disconnect again at any time via Settings → Connections.
