Why does Windows warn on launch?

Windows shows a warning on first launch because the app isn't signed with a paid publisher certificate yet.

Why the warning appears

Personarium deliberately launches without an expensive OS code-signing certificate — Windows doesn't recognize the publisher and shows a SmartScreen warning for an "unknown publisher". Your update security doesn't depend on this: every update is separately signed with its own offline-held key and verified automatically by the app.

How to proceed

Windows shows "Windows protected your PC". Click "More info" — a "Run anyway" button then appears. The installation proceeds normally from there.

If your browser blocks the download

Chrome and Edge occasionally flag unsigned .exe files right at download time. If that happens, open your browser's download menu and choose "Keep" (or the equivalent option for your browser version).

Verifying the file

If you want to be sure: compare your installer's SHA-256 checksum with the one listed on the download page, which also lists the update key's signature fingerprint.

Will this change?

Yes — once there's budget for an official code-signing certificate, the warning goes away. Until then, this remains the verified, safe path.
