What does AI role-play cost?

Personarium itself doesn't add a markup on AI usage: you only pay what your chosen model actually costs at your provider.

The BYOK principle

BYOK stands for "bring your own key": you supply your own OpenRouter (and optionally fal.ai) key. Personarium doesn't run a central, shared AI account and adds nothing on top — billing happens directly with your provider.

What drives the price

Model choice is the biggest lever: cheap, fast models cost a fraction per message compared to large premium models. On top of that: how long your messages and replies are, and how often you chat. That's why Personarium groups the available models into "Budget", "Standard", and "Premium" instead — individual provider prices change too often to state reliably here.

Estimating your own usage

Our cost calculator gives you the clearest picture: pick a model and messages per day, and it estimates a monthly total — live from the current model list, never hardcoded.

Balance and membership

Personarium shows your OpenRouter balance and warns you when it's running low; top-ups happen directly with the provider. A possible Personarium membership for the hub is entirely separate from that — one is what you pay us for hub features, the other is what you pay the model provider directly for AI usage.
